Nottingham Forest boss Aitor Karanka has revealed he is delighted with how the club's pre-season trip to Marbella has gone as they head back to the UK.

The Reds played two games whilst away, losing 1-0 to La Liga outfit Betis, before a fine perfomance earlier today when they beat Malaga 3-0.

And, Karanka tweeted after the game outlining how pleased he was with how the week away has gone, describing it as 'almost perfect'.

After a very busy summer it presented the many new signings with a chance to get to know each other away from the pitch and also develop an understanding on it.

Karanka has made huge changes to his squad this summer, with serious financial backing, as he looks to build a squad capable of challenging for promotion next May.

The Verdict

Given what Forest have spent, promotion is clearly the expectation but Karanka has a big job on his hands to create a team spirit and togetherness in the group.

Trips like this could be key to developing that and clearly the Spaniard is extremely pleased with how things have gone.

Now, it's about working on that and taking it into upcoming friendlies ahead of the new season which starts on August 4th against Bristol City at Ashton Gate.
