Key Nottingham Forest figure delivers injury update amid concerning moment against Middlesbrough

Chris Hughton has confirmed that the injury suffered by Ryan Yates ‘didn’t look good’.
The Nottingham Forest star hobbled off the pitch after 82 minutes of the Championship clash with Neil Warnock’s side – a game that they went on to lose 2-1 at the City Ground.
Forest were already 2-0 down when Yates suffered the rather innocuous-looking injury as he crumpled to the floor off the ball.
After receiving treatment the midfielder hopped off the pitch and was escorted back to the dressing room by a member of the Forest medical team.
While it remains to be seen exactly what the nature of the injury is, Hughton admits that he’s not feeling overly confident about it.

Speaking to Nottinghamshire Live about the injury, Hughton said: “I don’t know yet.
“I think it is possibly his calf. I shall find out. But at the time it didn’t look good. As we know with with Ryan, he’s a tough individual. So we’ll assess that one. And I’m hoping it’s not too bad.”
He added: “If I’m looking at where we are as regards bodies, then we’re having to put a centre-half on as a sub in that central midfield position because of the numbers that we’ve got. We’re hoping it’s not too bad. But we’ll wait and see.”
The Verdict
Things just aren’t going to plan for Nottingham Forest at the moment.
While a recent seven-match unbeaten run in all competitions showed signs of encouragement the defeat to Middlesbrough was a night where things just didn’t go to plan.
Supporters will surely be hoping that the injury is not serious, as after all, the club will need Yates if they’re to kick on.
