Norwich City extended their poor run with defeat at Leeds on Saturday afternoon, with the result meaning the Canaries have now picked up just a single win from their past nine games.

Manager Daniel Farke is under immense pressure to deliver a turnaround in results, with the German boss coming under serious scrutiny from large sections of the Carrow Road support.

Farke’s side were unlucky at Leeds, dominating for large spells and having chances to cancel out Pontus Jansson’s first half opener, but the club appear to lack a killer instinct under the former Borussia Dortmund II man.

Goalkeeper Angus Gunn kept the Canaries in contention with several fine stops, and the Manchester City loanee expressed his disappointment at failing to come away with the points.

“Looking back on the game, we played very well,” Gunn told the club’s official site.

“When you come to Elland Road, you expect pressure which they put on a bit at the end of the first half. I think we stood up to most of it well. The goal was at a bad time for us.

“It’s disappointing but we need to get back on the training pitch and work hard on it and come back out on Friday fighting again.”

The Verdict

Norwich have served up excuses all season for their poor form, and have promised fans on numerous occasions that their side will bounce back in their next fixture.

However the club has failed to live up to expectations this season, and the signings made by Farke in the summer have on the whole, proven less than successful.

Norwich fans are used to challenging for promotion to the Premier League, and a second successive season of mid-table mediocrity will not sit well with those in Norfolk.

Former boss Alex Neil was removed from his position for his failure to make the top-six, so Farke will be sweating heading into the new year.
