Norwich City will complete a permanent deal to sign Ben Gibson this summer, according to Daniel Farke.

The Burnley centre-back has spent the season on loan at Carrow Road after struggling to break into the first team set-up under Sean Dyche at Turf Moor.

During his loan spell Gibson has played a key role in helping the Canaries to secure promotion by playing on 29 occasions for the club.

In that time the 28-year-old has been a regular started for Farke’s side and with a place in the Premier League now confirmed it seems that plans are now being put in place for the summer transfer window.

The Mirror claim that Norwich hold an option to sign Gibson for a fee of £8.5million this summer, and speaking to the press, Farke has seemingly confirmed that a permanent deal will now go ahead.

He said: “Stuart Webber (sporting director) will speak about this but Ben Gibson will be with us next season.”

The verdict

This is great news for Norwich City supporters.

Ben Gibson has been a really astute signing for the Canaries this season and has slotted into Daniel Farke’s side with no issue whatsover.

His performances have been a key part of the club’s ability to secure promotion and it seemed inevitable that the player would be a summer transfer target ahead of the new season.

The hope now is that Gibson can play his part in helping the club to retain their spot in the top flight next season.
