Millwall chairman, John Berylson, has praised Neil Harris as one of the 'best young managers around' after he left the club last week.

Harris chose to step down last Thursday after a successful stint in charge of the Lions that saw them rise from League One and enjoy some very good seasons in the Championship, as well as a number of famous cup-ties.

He'll go down as one of the great Millwall managers, although many supporters felt it was the right time for both the club and the boss to go in different directions.

Berylson has remained thankful to Harris, and insisted that he is one of the best young managers around and will show that in the future.

Speaking to London News Online, Berylson said: "Neil leaves this club with his head held high and I am in no doubt that he will continue to prove himself as one of the best young managers around in the future.

“It would be amiss for me to not also thank and praise Dave Livermore, who has stood side-by-side with Neil this whole time and who has done an exemplary job behind the scenes.

“He too was able to take his wealth of knowledge about the club and what it takes to be a proper Millwall player and impart that experience on to all those who he coached. For that he deserves enormous credit also."

The Verdict

It's nice for a chairman to actually come out and give a positive statement like this, especially after all that Harris was able to do for the club.

He has praised him as one of the best young managers around, and that's a very big compliment that will do Harris' confidence the world of good going into whatever the next job may be.

Harris did a sublime job at Millwall, and it'll be really interesting to see what club his next job will be and how he gets on as he looks to continue to improve as a manager.
