Millwall midfielder Shaun Williams has signed a new one-year contract at the club that will extend his deal until the end of next season.

Williams signed for the Lions from MK Dons in 2014 and has been a key player throughout his stay that has seen him witness some fantastic ups as well as some awful downs.

The 33-year-old has made 257 appearances for the club which is a staggering amount and he was influential in Millwall's play-off final victory in 2017 as well as the club's eighth placed finish in the Championship the season after.

With Gary Rowett coming into the club, it appears as though the Lions are on the up again and are currently competing for a place in the top six this season.

Williams will now stay on a be a part of the journey for a bit longer, as he hopes to guide the side to a play-off place come the end of the current campaign.

Williams is loved by everyone at the club and it really is a fantastic piece of business from the Lions. Allowing the midfielder to stay on for another year will only help the squad.

He's an integral piece of the first-team squad, but he's also still got ability that the Lions need in the majority of their Championship fixtures.

He can be an important squad player for the side and has a certain amount of respect not just from the other players but from the supporters as well.
