Middlesbrough boss Tony Pulis is refusing to discuss his future until the summer as he tries to take the club back to the Premier League.

The ex-West Brom man was appointed as boss of the north-east club back in December 2017 and whilst details on the length of his contract were kept under wraps, Teesside Live report he signed an 18-month deal.

That would mean it's up in the summer but the experienced boss told the same media outlet that he isn't concerned about his future at all.

"Nothing will happen until I speak with Steve, and I’ve said before – and I’ve told this to Steve – I don’t want to talk about anything until the season is over.

"I don’t want to talk and discuss anything like that until hopefully we’re in the Premier League."

They suggest that the 61-year-old will stay at the club if they do secure promotion and that it's unlikely he will carry on for another season in the second-tier.

Boro are currently fifth in the Championship but they only hold a three-point lead over those outside the top six and they face a huge game against Aston Villa today.

The Verdict

This is smart from Pulis as he doesn't want anything to distract his players at what is a crucial stage of the season.

Boro need to be completely focused on retaining a play-off place and trying to win promotion.

Obviously, that's going to have a big bearing on whether Pulis stays, so it makes sense to wait until Boro know what division they will be in before they make such a big call.
