Wolves are set to trigger the £18m release clause for Middlesbrough's Adama Traore, even though he dislocated his shoulder on Friday.
The speedy winger, who was Boro's outstanding player last season, has been linked with a move to Wolves for the past few weeks.
And, there appeared to be a breakthrough last week, with reports suggesting he was set to sign with the newly-promoted side.
However, he then dislocated his shoulder in Friday night's friendly against Sunderland, which created doubts as to whether Wolves would pursue a deal.
Yet, Football Insider claim that Nuno Espirito Santo has told key figures at the Midlands club to push through with a deal for the 22-year-old.
It's well-documented that Traore has a £18m release clause that can be triggered this summer, with Boro refusing to negotiate unless that fee is met.
The report states that Wolves went in with a lower offer previously, which was immediately knocked back.
They will now look to finalise the deal in the coming days ahead of the August 9 deadline.
The Verdict
This has been a bit of a mess in the past few weeks, with various stories coming out regarding Traore and Wolves.
But, this one seems clear cut, with Santo calling for the club to meet the £18m release clause, which is a very fair price in today's market.
It also highlights how good Wolves think Traore can be if they push through a deal despite his injury.
