Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa has confirmed that Stuart Dallas will play at left-back against Brentford tomorrow, with Jamie Shackleton at right-back - if Barry Douglas and Ezgjan Alioski are not fit enough to play.

Bielsa was speaking to the media ahead of the Championship clash at Elland Road, when he revealed that Douglas and Alioski are both injury doubts for the game, along with captain Liam Cooper.

The Leeds boss has explained that all three players are fit enough to feature against the Bees and refused to rule them out completely, but insisted that he wants his players to be at 100%.

Dallas has started all three of Leeds' Championship matches so far this season at right-back in the absence of the injured Luke Alying, but Bielsa has revealed that he could move the Northern Ireland international to left-back against Brentford, if Douglas and Alioski are not involved.

This would mean that Shackleton - who was able to establish himself in the first team at Elland Road last season - would move to right-back.

Bielsa delivered the injury update at his press conference ahead of the game, as reported by Phil Hay of The Athletic.

The Verdict

The injury news concerning Douglas and Alioski is very worrying for Leeds fans. However, at least they will know that Dallas and Shackleton are both capable of playing at full-back.

Even though it's not his natural position for Leeds, Dallas has been very impressive at right-back this season and he showed towards the end of last season that he's more than capable of playing at left-back too.

Even though Shackleton isn't as experienced as Dallas, he's played at right-back for Leeds before and did a good job in that position in the second half of the recent cup win over Salford.

It'll be interesting to see whether Douglas and Alioski are fit enough to be involved against Brentford tomorrow night, or whether Bielsa will decide to make changes.
