Leeds United attacking midfielder Pablo Hernandez refused to be too downbeat yesterday, despite seeing his team lose 4-1 at West Brom.

The Whites were swept aside by the Baggies, who put on a ruthless display of finishing and showed their Premier League quality along the way to make sure Marcelo Bielsa's men headed back to Yorkshire with nothing to show from their trip to the Hawthorns.

But Hernandez, who got the late consolation goal for Leeds, refused to be too down about the result in his post match interview.

Hernandez said in the interview that he hopes his team 'will learn' from the result, and touched on the fact that the international break could well have come at the ideal time following the loss.

The Spaniard has been in fine form for most of the season and was clearly disappointed with the scoreline, but admitted that 'this is football', in terms of Leeds having an off day.

The Whites are still very much in the promotion picture and manager Bielsa will no doubt have seen plenty to work on in the coming days and weeks.

The verdict

Hernandez has bags of experience at the top level and it's no surprise to see such a level headed response.

The Spaniard remains key to Leeds' hopes of promotion, and he is right too with his comments about the international break coming up.

Hernandez will hope that this is a one off and will be determined to see his Leeds side not slip away this season as they did last.
