Huddersfield Town claimed a much needed win on Tuesday evening with a late 1-0 win over Charlton Athletic on Tuesday.

Teenager Matty Daly struck in the 92nd minute at The Valley to hand the Terriers their first victory in six games and move them four points clear of the Championship relegation zone.

Town had suffered their first poor spell under Cowley over their last six games and it will have been a relief to come away from the Valley with all three points.

Danny Cowley made changes to his starting XI for the trip to the capital with the versatile Juninho Bacuna featuring in central midfield and he played a key role in the build up to Daly's goal.

Praising Bacuna, Danny Cowley told the Huddersfield Examiner on Thursday: "We work very hard at trying to be really disciplined and really organised, don't forget Juninho Bacuna - because Bacca played with real discipline and played for the team."

"Next to Hoggy - who gets through an incredible amount of work," Cowley added, "Bacca played with a real discipline, which is great to see."

Bacuna was one of Town's standout players over Huddersfield's seven game unbeaten run and given the Terriers recent mini injury crisis.

Cowley will be thrilled to have a handful of versatile players at his disposal, as he looks to welcome back Trevor Chalobah into the fold for the Terriers clash with Wigan on Saturday.

The Verdict

It will no doubt boost Bacuna's confidence hearing his manager praise his disciplined performance and will take that into Town's upcoming run of games.

At only 22-years-old Bacuna has established himself of one of Town's key figures this season scoring five goals in 18 appearances so far this term.

As well as chipping in with the goals, the 22-year-old has also played central midfield, attacking midfield and right-back for Cowley this term and this versatility will be more than welcomed as Town look to move further away from the relegation zone.

Huddersfield face another crucial relegation clash on Saturday when they travel to Wigan Athletic, knowing a win could potentially put seven points between them and the drop-zone.
