Mark Devlin has said that any offer made for Lewis O'Brien 'must be right for Huddersfield Town'.

Recent reports have suggested that both Leeds United and Crystal Palace are interested in making a move for the 22-year-old midfielder following an impressive campaign for the Terriers last term.

The central midfielder played 42 times in the Championship last term, scoring three goals and creating three more for the Yorkshire side.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for O'Brien with club CEO saying that the Championship club have already rejected two offers for the player, with Devlin emphasising that any deal will have to be on Huddersfield's terms.

Speaking to Huddersfield Town's official website, Devlin said: "The transfer window is still open, and it is still possible that players can leave and arrive before the end of August.

"There has been a lot of speculation surrounding Lewis O’Brien’s future, in particular, and I can confirm we have received and rejected two transfer offers for him.

"We respect every player’s desire to test themselves at the highest possible level, but equally any transfer must be right for Huddersfield Town, both in terms of value and timing.

"We will do our best to keep supporters informed as the window reaches its conclusion."

The verdict

It's quite obvious what Huddersfield Town's stance is regarding Lewis O'Brien.

The Terriers are facing the prospect of a long, hard season in the Championship and if they're to finish the season with their heads above water then they'll need to keep their best players.

It's no surprise to see the 22-year-old attracting interest from Leeds United and Crystal Palace, while it's admirable that they're so keen to keep the player.

Unfortunately for them with just one year left on his contract it means that they are a tad vulnerable.

It's unlikely that Huddersfield can afford to let the player's deal run down and let him leave for nothing and so it's possible that he'll move on before the end of the window.
