Garry Monk insists Birmingham City will only sell David Stockdale on terms that suit the club, even though he has been told he has no future at St. Andrew's.

The former Brighton stopper only joined the West Midlands side last year and had a tough first campaign with Blues.

That, combined with his hefty wages, has meant that Monk is happy to sell the player. However, Birmingham rejected a season-long loan bid from Leeds United who are on the lookout for a new keeper.

And, journalist Phil Hay revealed how Monk was clear that Blues won't entertain offers unless it suits them when speaking to the Birmingham Mail.

"It’s for him to find the right solution to himself but it’s got to suit the club as well. It’s always got to be on our terms. If the club feels it’s the right package then the club will do it. If it’s not then that will be the situation."

Leeds are sure to bring in a new number one this summer with youngster Bailey Peacock-Farrell ending the previous campaign in goal.

The Verdict

You can understand Monk's stance, however the fact he has made it public knowledge that Stockdale could leave was never going to help.

Yet, there's little for Birmingham to gain by loaning him out, as even if Leeds did pay all his wages, Blues might have the same problem in 12 months time.

However, Leeds have other potential targets so it will be interesting to see how this plays out.
