Luton Town caretaker manager Mick Harford has revealed that the club are still looking to bring in new players during the remainder of the January transfer window, report Dunstable Today.

Midfielders George Moncur and George Thorne have both arrived at the club from Barnsley and Derby County respectively with the former signing permanently but with Elliot Lee set to continue his injury lay-off Harford remains keen to strengthen in attack.

"We keep looking, we are a progressive club and we are short up top," Harford said.

"We will be looking and see where we are in the market before the window closes, definitely, but we’re not close to anything yet.

“Elliot just felt a bit stiff in his calf and hamstring and we just didn’t want to risk him, but he’s fine."

Striker Danny Hylton will also miss the club's next two matches as he continues to serve the suspension given for his red card against Sunderland two weeks ago.

Despite the squad's setbacks, the Hatters still managed to comfortably see off fellow promotion hopefuls Peterborough United at Kenilworth Road, beating the Posh 4-0 to open up a three-point cushion on Sunderland in the race for an automatic promotion spot.

The verdict

This is good news for Luton fans and encouraging from Harford.

He and the club seem to be well aware that Luton deserve to be where they are and are rightly looking to strengthen in January.

Resting on their laurels would be a mistake especially with all clubs around them continuing to build their squads for what will be a tightly contested final few months of the season.
