Cardiff City's under-23 manager Andy Legg has departed the club as the result of an internal restructure at The Cardiff City Stadium following the recent appointment of Neil Harris.

It is believed that the change came from the board of directors at the Bluebirds, however, and not a change that was made by Harris himself as he looks to bring fresh ideas to the Welsh capital.

Cardiff are attempting to take the academy in a different direction with a fresh approach, and the appointment of Harris has allowed the club to start off on a fresh slate despite this academy shake-up having been in the works for some time.

Legg isn't the first high-profile figure to leave Cardiff's academy in recent months, with Craig Bellamy also leaving in the summer to help assist with Anderlecht's academy over in Belgium.

The replacement for the outgoing Legg on a temporary basis is Tom Ramasut, who was in charge for the under-23's 0-0 draw at home with Charlton Athletic yesterday.

The club are currently looking for a permanent replacement that can take over Legg's role.

The Verdict

Harris' appointment allows Cardiff to reassess the first-team and the youth setup in the right ways, with any changes allowing a clean slate for the Bluebirds as they strive to become a Premier League club again.

Legg has done a good job for Cardiff over his time with the academy and his passion for the game as well as his enthusiasm for developing youth will be missed by the Bluebirds as they seek somebody just as good to take on his role.
