Dr Tony Xia has delivered an update, as uncertainty continues to surround Aston Villa after they failed to win promotion last season.

Steve Bruce has Villa on the brink of promotion last season, with his side finishing fourth in the table and reaching the play-off final.

However, defeat to Fulham has left Villa with financial difficulties, with player sales now expected this summer.

The club’s owner has now delivered his latest update on social media, taking to Twitter this afternoon to deliver a message.

Xia claims that he will continue to do his best for Villa, after taking time away from social media to reflect on the situation the club find themselves in.

His message read:

Reports from the Birmingham Mail have been circling this morning, confirming that Xia is in talks to sell Villa this summer.

The report claimed that Xia had knocked back an offer from a European bidder to take a 51% share.

However, negotiations with two other serious bidders are planned, as Xia looks to help Villa out of the financial mess play-off failure has left them in.

The Verdict

Xia has certainly done the right thing by taking himself away from social media, with the situation Villa find themselves in extremely serious.

Xia’s next move in the coming weeks could be vital for Villa, who are suffering at the hands of Financial Fair Play.

His passion for the club can't be questioned, but this update doesn't give much away, which is bound to frustrate Villa's supporters.
