Writing in his programme notes ahead of Leeds United’s clash with Norwich City this afternoon, Pontus Jansson has admitted he is feeling back to his best, as reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post’s Phil Hay.

The YEP journalist has shared pictures of Jansson’s programme notes ahead of this afternoon, with the Swedish defender admitting that after a tough start to the season, he is beginning to rediscover his best form.

Jansson, 26, was a rock for Leeds last season in the Sky Bet Championship, but over the course of September and October, the defender struggled to find his best, which coincided with a major slump in form for Thomas Christiansen’s side.

However, over the last five fixtures, Leeds have picked up 10 points, with Jansson looking like his old self, even bagging his first goal of the season in the 1-1 draw with Aston Villa earlier this month.

The 26-year-old has partnered Liam Cooper in central defence, helping the Whites climb back to seventh and to the brink of the Championship’s top-six heading into this afternoon’s clash.

Christiansen’s side trail the play-off zone by four points and will be once again looking to cut that gap against Norwich this afternoon.

The Verdict

It’s hard to overlook how important Jansson is to Leeds, as when the defender plays well, so do Leeds.

Last year, Jansson’s commanding performances made him a firm favourite at Elland Road, but so far this season, he has struggled to rediscover that – up until recently.

Christiansen will need some big performances from the Swedish international in the coming weeks.
