Luton Town head coach Nathan Jones has confirmed that Championship West Bromich Albion have submitted a bid for defender Jack Stacey.

According to Luton Today, the future of the 22-year-old right back has been subject to intense speculation over the summer transfer period.

Nathan Jones’ side, who will play in League One this coming season following their promotion, have admitted that they are considering an offer from the Baggies for their star defedner.

Jones stated: “We’ve had an enquiry for Jack, so while that’s going on, we just want his mind to be focused."

We’ve had lots of bids for Jack, we’ve had a bid that a team in question is discussing with us and we’ve been very strong in things that we’ve done."

But there’s a few things that we want to happen this week and then we’ll see where we are. We don’t want to lose any of our good players, sometimes you have to for certain reasons, but at the minute, we’re not at that stage, so let’s just see where we are.”

If the transfer to the Hawthorns does go through for Stacey, he will face his old side in the first round of the EFL Cup, when the Hatters will travel to the Hawthorns.

The Verdict

Stacey made 45 appearances for Luton Town last season, and was an integral part of the side that gained promotion to League One.

The former Reading defender only signed for the Hatters last summer, but could be set for a move up the leagues to Championship side West Brom.

Darren Moore has bought in less players than most sides this summer, but with the strong additions of Johnstone and Bartley amongst others, it is certainly quality over quantity.
