Queens Park Rangers Chairman Amit Bhatia has taken to Twitter to praise striker Nahki Wells after he scored his first goal for the club as Steve McClaren's side dispatched Sheffield Wednesday 3-0 at Loftus Road on Tuesday.

Bhatia was appointed as R's Chairman in August after Tony Fernandes and Ruben Gnanalingam stood down from their roles as co-chairmen and oversaw the loan signing of Wells from Burnley.

Taking to the social media site on Tuesday night, he wrote simply: "Hey @nahkiwells.... nice finish!"

Tomer Hemed fired the home side into the lead just after the half-hour mark, heading home his third goal for the club since joining on loan from Brighton after Pawel Wszolek's shot dropped kindly for him after Cameron Dawson's save.

Wszolek was the provider of the second as well, as his cross was headed home impressively by Luke Freeman on the 57th minute to put the R's in control.

And with seven minutes remaining substitute Wells slotted home his first goal of the season with a fine finish after being sent through on goal by Ebereche Eze.

The win puts McClaren's side to within a point of the playoff places, marking an impressive turnaround after losing their first four matches of the season.

The verdict

This sort of finish is exactly what QPR signed Wells for.

If they can get both him and Hemed firing at the same time then you have to say they will have a very real shot of making the top six.
