Aston Villa finally seem to be turning things around in the Sky Bet Championship, and after a difficult year, Steve Bruce’s side look like they could mount a serious challenge on the top-six.

Victories over Barnsley, Nottingham Forest and Burton Albion in their last three Championship fixtures has helped Villa climb to eighth in the table, with Bruce’s side now knocking on the door of the play-off places.

Bruce has named an unchanged line up for those three fixtures, with the majority of his starting XI continuing to impress.

One player who is dividing opinion at Villa Park is Glenn Whelan, a summer addition from Stoke City.

Whelan has played alongside Conor Hourihane in central midfield in the last three fixtures, and despite Villa’s success, many are unconvinced by the 33-year-old’s contribution.

Following Whelan’s latest performance in the 4-0 victory over Burton, many Villa supporters were debating his role.
