Swansea City defender Joe Rodon appears to have made his return to first-team training after featuring in a social media update shared by team-mate Yan Dhanda on Tuesday afternoon.
Rodon has not featured for Steve Cooper’s side since their 3-0 defeat to Brentford at the Liberty Stadium back in October, but it now appears the centre-back is edging closer to his comeback after returning to first-team training with the South Wales outfit.
The 22-year-old has been a reliable presence in the Swansea side since making his senior breakthrough at the start of last season, but he has been nursing an ankle injury in recent months, with this keeping him out of the Swans’ last 16 matches.
However, Dhanda has now taken to Instagram to share an image of him getting the better of Rodon to find the net in a training-ground match on Tuesday, with this being accompanied by the message “Welcome back bro”.
Swansea’s first-choice centre-back duo of Rodon and Mike van der Hoorn are both sidelined with injury at present, but Ben Wilmot and Ben Cabango have excelled at the back in their absence to help the Swans up to fifth in the Championship table.

Rodon was one of Swansea’s stand-out performers during the early stages of the Championship season, and his return to fitness will certainly give the club a further lift as they look to step up their play-off bid in the second half of the campaign.
Wilmot and Cabango have certainly seized their opportunity to prove that Swansea have some excellent defensive depth at present, but Rodon will surely be able to muscle his way back into the side when he is back to full fitness.
Cooper will then be blessed with options at the centre of defence when Rodon and Van der Hoorn are back available, with the Welsh side now boasting plenty of strength in depth across the pitch following the signings of Rhian Brewster, Conor Gallagher and Marc Guehi.
