Birmingham City will hear whether the club will receive a points deduction or not in February 2019, according to reports from The Telegraph.

The situation behind-the-scenes at St. Andrew's has been chaotic in recent years - the club were hit with a transfer embargo at the end of last season after exceeding losses of around £39million over a three-year period.

The situation was then worsened with the signing of Danish defender Kristian Pedersen in the summer, signing the left-back from Union Berlin for a reported fee of £2million whilst still being placed under an embargo.

Garry Monk's men currently sit twelve in the Championship after an impressive turnaround this season, albeit after a 4-2 defeat at the hands of arch rivals Aston Villa last weekend, but their hard work could be undone by a looming points deduction - a case in which will be discussed in February of next year.

Blues could be deducted up to 12 points due to breaching regulations, which could be detrimental for their promotion push this campaign.

The Verdict

This could be a huge, huge blow to Birmingham City.

They may have lost against Villa, but this shouldn't distract from how well they have done under Garry Monk, and the club will be praying that they don't have a points deduction by any means.
