Angus Kinnear has been detailing Leeds United’s planning for a return to Thorp Arch as the Whites gear up to resume the Championship season.

Leeds currently sit top of the Championship table but their push for promotion was placed on hold as public health began to take priority in early March, with a ball not kicked in the division in over two months.

However, plans are being put in place for a return to action in mid-June, with Leeds preparing to welcome players back to Thorp Arch properly in 10 days.

Offering an insight into those plans, Kinnear wrote in the Yorkshire Evening Post: “Details around return-to-training protocols have become more granular, allowing our medical and performance team to interrogate them and finalise plans how they will be applied to Thorp Arch.

“Our protocols will align with the Premier League and twice-weekly testing and sanitising procedures will ensure that our training ground is one of the safest environments for anybody to return to work to.”

If the season can resume in mid-June, Leeds are on the brink of recording a memorable promotion back to the Premier League – a division they haven’t competed in since the 2003/04 season.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side are top of the table and point clear of West Brom in second, whilst there’s a further six points separating them and Fulham, who hold the biggest threat to the top-two as things stand.

The Verdict

Leeds will leave no stone unturned when it comes to restarting again; there’s loads on the line for them and they’ll want to make a return to Thorp Arch as normal as possible for Bielsa and his squad.

Of course, these an unique times, but a forward-thinking club like Leeds shouldn’t be hindered too much.

Here’s hoping that things can get underway again and we can watch Marcelo Bielsa’s side look to win promotion the right way.
