Celtic are hoping to tie up a deal for Ben Davies by the end of the week, according to Football Insider.

The Preston North End star has been the subject of intense speculation over recent months with his contract due to expire at the end of the current season.

Alex Neil's side had offered the player a club-record deal in order to extend his stay at Deepdale, but now it appears that his future at the club is decided.

Reports from Sky Sports revealed yesterday that Celtic were closing in on a deal, however it now seems that an announcement could be on the horizon with a move on track to be confirmed this week.

However it could be a nervy week for the Scottish champions.

Football Insider also claim that Bournemouth have emerged as eleventh-hour contenders to sign the centre-back.

Whether the Cherries can beat the Bhoys to the signing remains to be seen but it certainly looks like the 25-year-old is preparing for a pivotal week in his career.

The Verdict

It certainly looks like Ben Davies will be moving on this month.

Despite Preston's best efforts it seems that the lure of a move to Glasgow to join Celtic might be proving just too much for the ambitious central defender.

Of course a move to Bournemouth may also be appealing and so it'll be very interesting to see what the coming days have in store for the player.
