Celtic boss Neil Lennon is not hiding the fact that they are interested in one of Boro's players after speaking to The Scottish Sun.
Middlesbrough's Paddy McNair - who can play in midfield or defence - has been linked to Celtic for much of the summer, and now his move has got one step closer with the Lennon confirming his interest in the Northern Ireland international.
The 24-year-old has struggled to get game time this season at Boro after being bought by local rivals Sunderland for a deal which could rise to a reported £5million.
He has only played 16 times in the league this year across three positions, only starting seven games.
According to the previous report, Celtic aren't the only club after his signature, with Sheffield United and 'several' Championship clubs also interested.
When asked about having interest in McNair, Hoops boss Lennon responded saying "there's interest there, yeah."
The Verdict
McNair to Celtic is a signing which you can see coming off.
With McNair clearly fed up of not having any game time, he will not be giving Woodgate the opportunity to rectify his torrid time at The Riverside and will be looking for a new challenge.
Comments from Dallas in recent weeks about McNair not getting enough time speak volumes of how McNair will feel under appreciated.
McNair may be a Rangers fan, but going to Celtic is an opportunity which can be hard to turn down, especially when you're not featuring at your current Championship club.
