Bristol City midfielder Kasey Palmer has heaped praise on his teammate Han-Noah Massengo following the midfielder's midweek performance against Derby County.

Lee Johnson's side saw off the Rams 2-1 at Pride Park on Tuesday night with the 18-year-old playing an instrumental role in the middle of the park and his midfield partner was quick to give him credit after the match.

Taking to Twitter, Palmer wrote in response to Massengo's tweet: "A Massive Talent, Well done little Bro 🔥🦁 Also Thanks for the travelling support tonight 👏🏾"

Massengo was signed by the Robins during the summer transfer window from Monaco's B team for a hefty fee of around £7million but he looks like he could be worth every penny.

The visitors took the lead just 16 minutes into the clash with Andi Weimann scoring against his former club before Josh Brownhill doubled the advantage just before half-time.

Jack Marriott pulled one back late on but City never looked like relinquishing the three points with Massengo the star in his first start for the club.

The verdict

For an 18-year-old getting public praise such as this from the more senior members of your team will make a world of difference.

At the moment, Massengo looks like he could really be something special. But he needs to be managed carefully. Johnson will need to be sure that he is managing him correctly so he does not burn out and/or lose focus.

However, the more he plays like he did on Tuesday night the less likely that will be a problem at all.
