Earlier this month, Bradford City completed the signing of Chris Taylor on a short-term contract that was set to run until the end of January 2020.

Taylor had previously been on the books with both Bolton Wanderers and Blackpool earlier in his career, and would have been keen to get back to playing on a regular basis in the Football League.

But that move certainly didn't turn out how both parties would have hoped for, as the club confirmed on Wednesday, that the move had been cancelled due to a registration problem, which could have resulted in a potential points deduction if the Bantams had forced through the move.

In a pre-match press conference ahead of Bradford's game against Macclesfield Town, Gary Bowyer issued his thoughts on Taylor's move which failed to materialise.

Bradford have lost just once in their last five league games, but will be hoping to bounce back from a disappointing defeat to Port Vale in midweek when they take on the Silkmen.

It's a game where Bowyer's side will be expected to pick up a crucial three points to move back into the automatic promotion places.

The Bantams were relegated from the third tier last season, and evidently saw Taylor as a player that could have added something to their side as they look to make an immediate return to League One.

Bowyer is clearly frustrated by this development, but will be turning his attentions to his side's game against Macclesfield Town on Saturday afternoon.

The Verdict:

This is a frustrating situation for everyone involved it seems.

Bradford would have been keen to add some experience and depth to their team this season as they target promotion back into League One at the first time of asking.

Taylor would have been keen to prove a point as well, and would have been a useful player to have for any League Two club having previously played at in both League One and the Championship.
