Garry Monk is gearing up for his first full season as Birmingham City manager as his side prepare to take on Norwich City at St. Andrew's tomorrow.

The former Leeds boss was appointed as Steve Cotterill's successor in March, inheriting a club in a serious relegation battle and a team low on confidence.

However, both results and performances improved under Monk, who transformed the mood of the club.

That was evident with the fans turning up in their numbers for the final game against Fulham, as Blues won to secure safety.

And, despite a summer of turmoil that has seen the club put under a transfer embargo and only one new player coming in, the manager took to Twitter to send a positive message to the fans:

He called on the supporters to continue to back the team and to make some noise at St. Andrew's tomorrow when they take on the Canaries.

It promises to be the start of a very busy few days for Monk, who will be looking to bring in a few new faces after talks with the EFL allowed Blues to sign players under restrictions.

The Verdict

This is a really good message from Monk given the situation that Birmingham currently find themselves in.

He must be gutted that he has been unable to strengthen his squad but instead of moaning he has been very positive throughout, evident with this tweet.

That will lift the spirits among supporters who recognise that they have a very good manager at the club who clearly cares.
