Alex Mowatt has said that it would be 'unbelievable' if Barnsley were to secure promotion to the Premier League.

The Tykes have enjoyed a wonderful campaign in which they have secured a spot in the Championship's top six, meaning that they're firmly in the mix to go up this term.

If Barnsley are to be promoted they'll have to overcome the challenge of Brentford, Swansea City and Bournemouth, but based on their campaign so far it's likely that Valerien Ismael's side will be feeling confident.

Mowatt has been a massive player for the Yorkshire side this term and will be key in guiding the club to glory, and speaking about the club's hopes, the midfielder believes that they have a great chance of pulling off an upset.

Speaking to the Yorkshire Post, Mowatt said: "I watched Donny (Doncaster) versus Leeds, but was in the Donny end that day (League One play-off final in 2008). I also went to watch Lewis Cook’s debut for England and have seen quite a lot of England games. I have been to Wembley loads of times and it is an unbelievable stadium.

“It would be an unbelievable achievement to play there alone. All the lads would be buzzing for a Wembley trip and we want to get the job done.
“We had a (recent) meeting and the gaffer put a picture of Wembley on the board and everyone had goosebumps, so that is a target and it would be unbelievable for the club to get promoted and we’ve got a great chance to do that and it is a big opportunity for everyone and everyone is excited.”

The verdict What a story this would be. Barnsley are a real surprise package this term and for them to even be in the play-offs is a remarkable achievement. I've sure that every neutral supporter in the land will be backing the Tykes as this would be a real upset if they were to secure promotion.
