It was a strong September for Aston Villa this year and they'll be looking to now build on that once this international break is over.

The season did not get off to the best start this year with them struggling to put together any kind of form but a hectic September has certainly yielded lots of points and brilliant performances, leaving Villa up near the top of the league.

For sure, then, now they need to kick on and really demonstrate that they are the side to beat and it seems as though John Terry is urging them to do that against the likes of Wolves and Birmingham City.

Two of Villa's local rivals, games against the Midlands pair are on the horizon once the international break comes to an end and Terry has issued this message - via The Birmingham Mail.

"It’s a huge game because Wolves are flying as well - it’s always a tough place to go.

"We’ve got Birmingham a few weeks later as well, so we need to keep performing, fighting for each other and our places.

"We’ve got to keep this momentum going as long as possible."

The Verdict

Terry is well-accustomed to playing in big derby games for Chelsea against the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham and so he'll be looking to use that experience when Villa take on Wolves and Birmingham.

The men from Villa Park are looking sharper by the game and Terry is starting to have a real influence so fans will be hoping that only continues.
