Kevin Phillips has stated that it would be a ‘no-brainer’ for Leeds United to sign Tottenham Hotspur defender Juan Foyth in the summer transfer window.
The Whites are currently sitting top of the Championship table and are in pole position for promotion despite the delay in the campaign.
One of the stars of the season for Marcelo Bielsa’s side has been defender Ben White, who has helped ensure a strong defensive record at the heart of the Leeds backline.
White is only on loan from Brighton however, and that deal comes to an end in the coming months meaning Bielsa and his side will be on the hunt for replacements to maintain their impressive record at the back.
Football Insider revealed earlier in the month that Spurs defender Foyth was a target for Bielsa’s side, although dependant on whether the Whites make sure of promotion to the Premier League.
Speaking to Football Insider, Phillips said: “I could definitely see that one happening.
“It is almost a no-brainer. If they could get that over the line it would be a good deal because it would not cost a fortune.”

Foyth has a lot of ability, and at one point he was tipped to go on and have a very big career at Tottenham, which he still might be able to do.
However, the Argentinian defender hasn’t impressed over the course of the campaign and under Jose Mourinho he has barely featured for a Spurs side that has a number of high-profile names amongst their squad.
If Leeds were to go up, he’d be a valuable addition having already had some Premier League experience, and he could well thrive under Bielsa as he’d be working with a compatriot from the same nation.
It will take a lot to replace White at Leeds, but Foyth would be a solid addition to the backline at Elland Road.
