Kevin Nolan will be hoping his Notts County side have turned the corner having picked up four points from their previous two games.

The East Midlands side enjoyed a terrific start to the season that saw them in one of the three automatic promotion places however they suffered an alarming dip in the past few months which means they are now in fifth position.

A top three finish is still a real possibility but Nolan will have to find the right formula and he has switched his side up in recent weeks to try and do so.

During the win over Carlisle and hard fought draw with Newport, County have shown signs of the old side that began the season so well.

And, they will look to continue that form tonight when they travel to Cambridge who recently sacked manager Shaun Derry.

Despite that, it will be a tough game for Notts County who could leapfrog Mansfield and move into fourth with a win.

Here we look at the XI Nolan should go with...

The experienced stopper hasn't always been the number one this season but he has the shirt at the minute and won't be dropped after a clean sheet against Newport last time out.

The right-back lost his place to Nicky Hunt on Saturday but is a better option than the ex-Bolton man so should come back in tonight.

The experienced defender has been a regular for County this season and will retain his place tonight.

The youngster has forced his way into the team in recent matches and performed very well, so should be given another chance tonight.

Another who was surprisingly left out on Saturday, the ex-Sheffield Wednesday man is a big threat from left-back and should be recalled.

The midfielder hasn't played as well as he can since joining from Forest Green but is a very capable player at this level and should come good.

The versatile Hewitt is a big asset to the squad and a regular under Nolan so will start tonight.

The ex-Crystal Palace midfielder is a new signing for Notts County but has enjoyed a good start to life with his new club.

The on-loan Forest man has been a key figure in the sides successful season and Nolan will be hoping his top scorer can come good again at Cambridge.

The attacker has been inconsistent this season but can be a threat and played well enough at Newport to keep his place.

The experienced forward is the main man up top for Nolan and has enjoyed a fine season.

He has been on fire in 2018, scoring eight goals in 11 games and is the first-name on the teamsheet for Notts County now.
