Fulham midfielder Kevin McDonald has sent a message to former Whites' right-back Ryan Fredericks as the defender celebrated his 27th birthday.

The pair were both integral members of Slavisa Jokanovic's promotion-winning side during the 2017/18 campaign, with Fredericks making the move across London to West Ham in the following summer.

But the pair are obviously still close, with McDonald sharing a photograph of the pair celebrating at Wembley on his Instagram story, along with the caption: "Happy birthday to this legend of a guy."

During his time with Fulham, Fredericks made 114 appearances, providing 16 assists in that time, following his move from Birstol City in the summer of 2015.

Since becoming a Hammer, the 27-year-old has gone on to make 26 appearances including in eight of their league matches so far this season.

For McDonald, however, it has not been as fruitful a campaign, making just two league appearances in total as Scott Parker looks to put his own mark on the team.

The Whites currently sit in seventh place with 11 matches played, heading into the second international break of the season with a clash with Stoke City facing them after the break.

The verdict

I always like to see that players have remained friends despite moving to different clubs - it warms my heart, it does.

McDonald and Fredericks were both excellent during that season and failing to adequately replace the latter was probably a big part of their failing once in the top-flight.

However, they seem to be back on track now, with Parker building another thoroughly exciting side.
