Portsmouth boss Kenny Jackett has revealed that midfielder Marcus Harness is his only fresh injury concern ahead of the clash with League One high-flyers Peterborough on Saturday.

Harness produced an excellent performance as he helped Pompey achieve a 2-1 victory over Northampton in the EFL Trophy during the week, but he picked up a knock in the process which has made him a doubt for the weekend's match.

The 23-year-old has made a total of 15 appearances since joining the south-coast club on a permanent deal from Burton over the summer, but he has recently lost his place in the starting line-up during Pompey's nine-game unbeaten run.

Speaking to the Portsmouth club website, Jackett confirmed that Harness is a doubt for their upcoming match following his recently sustained injury, but he also revealed that Tom Naylor is now back in contention following a spell on the sidelines.

“Marcus has a knock to the knee and we rate him about 50-50. We’ll know more on Friday morning," he said.

“Other than that, though, we’ve got everyone except Jack Whatmough and Bryn Morris available against Peterborough. We’re pleased to have Tom Naylor back in contention. It’s good news for us because he’s a big character in our squad."

Naylor has missed Portsmouth's last two matches after picking up an injury against Harrogate Town in the FA Cup, but he now looks set to return to the side as he looks to add to his 20 appearances already this campaign.

The Verdict

It would come as a setback if Harness is unavailable to feature for Jackett's side this weekend following his fine performance in midweek, as the winger could have been a valuable option from the bench against Peterborough.

Jackett will have found it difficult to change a winning side of late, which has somewhat limited the former Burton man's recent game time, but his performance against Northampton served as proof of what he brings to this Pompey side.

Portsmouth will be hoping Harness is able to shake off his injury for the weekend, but they will meanwhile be boosted by the news that Naylor looks set to feature following a brief spell in the treatment room.
