Kenny Jackett has praised Portsmouth defender Christian Burgess as he returns to the side for the clash against Ipswich.
The centre-back missed the game against Accrington Stanley due to suspension, and will be hoping to come in and help sort out some of the defensive issues that this Pompey side are currently struggling with.
Portsmouth shipped four goals last weekend when they travelled to Accrington, and it was a rude awakening for the south-coast side who had been on a very good run of form.
With defensive injuries and suspensions piling up, Jackett is grateful to have Burgess back in the side and has expressed how consistent he has been for the club during his time at Portsmouth.
Speaking to Portsmouth News, Jackett said: “Christian has been a consistent player down the years for Pompey – and he has in my time here.
“We have enough experienced players there and competition to try to find the perfect combination. We need the back-four balanced to try to get us the clean sheets we need.
“He is a very consistent player, a consistent person, and has done well for Pompey.”

Burgess has been excellent in the defence and he’s almost guaranteed to be on the team-sheet when Pompey have a fully fit squad. The defender has been impressive during his time at the club, and will never shy away from admitting to a poor performance.
Pompey need him to stay fit and away from any suspensions if they’re to climb up into the play-offs this season.
The league is tight, and missing players could have a big effect on where teams end up – just like it did for Portsmouth last Saturday when they were thrashed at Accrington.
