Kenny Jackett has moved to dismiss rumours that he might be one of the managers who have lodged a bid for Bristol City striker Mo Eisa, as reported by Portsmouth.co.uk.

Bristol City boss Lee Johnson announced earlier this week that he had received bids for the £1m striker, who left Cheltenham Town a year ago but struggled to establish himself at Ashton Gate.

That prompted a wave of speculation as to who might be interested in securing his services after just a single season of his three-year deal had elapsed.

Jackett moved quickly to confirm that at the present time, Portsmouth are not one of the clubs after the former Greenwich striker.

"We haven’t enquired about Mo Eisa," the Pompey boss said.

"We definitely did last year when he was coming out of League Two, but it quickly went away. We were definitely interested but it quickly went out of our remit.

"We haven’t revisited it this summer and nor will we be. It won’t be one we’ll be coming into now, even wage wise it wouldn’t be possible."

Pompey will be looking to enter a period of rebuilding this summer as some of their top stars may look for a move after failing to secure promotion. Jamal Lowe is expected to leave, with a host of clubs pursuing his signature after a good season at Fratton Park.

Eisa bagged 23 goals from 45 starts for Cheltenham in 2017/18, but made just five appearances from the bench for the Robins in his maiden Championship season.

The Verdict

Eisa is going to be in demand, a host of League One clubs with the means to snatch him away will be interested.

It's a risk though, he bagged a lot of goals for Greenwich and for Cheltenham, but he's clearly moved up too quickly to Bristol City. He has a lot to prove with his next move and if he commands big wages and a fee, there's going to be pressure on him to perform.

Going from Greenwich to Cheltenham, he didn't have any of that pressure.
