Portsmouth manager Kenny Jackett has given his thoughts on the boos from the fans after his side secured a late draw with Oxford United at Fratton Park on Tuesday night.

A late Brett Pitman penalty was needed to pick up just their sixth point of the season, with Jackett coming under greater pressure with each passing week, and now he has given his thoughts.

“It was a frustrating evening and a very poor start from us, which gave us a mountain to climb," he told the club's official website after the match.

"I’m obviously frustrated as well because six points from six games is not where we want to be.

“We have to keep working away and need a series of wins to turn our season around. It’s up to us to make sure we do that.”

It was a nightmare start for the south-coast side on Tuesday night, with Joe Sbarra and Kieran Wallace both finding the back of the net inside the opening six minutes for the Brewers.

Ronan Curtis pulled one back for Pompey before midfielder John-Joe O'Toole saw red for picking up a second yellow card, giving even more hope of a turnaround for the hosts.

However, they had to wait until injury time to rescue a point, with Pitman slamming home a penalty after Ellis Harrison had been upended in the box.

The verdict

I think Jackett's time is rapidly running out at Fratton Park.

He has done a good job during his time there but at the moment he seems to have very little idea of how to take them forward and really challenge for promotion.

This weekend's trip to high-flying Wycombe probably could not have come at a worst time, although if they manager to pick-up three points, it will most likely buy Jackett some precious time.
