Portsmouth boss Kenny Jackett has revealed that several regulars are likely to miss Monday's tip to Plymouth Argyle.

After a tough start to the season, Pompey have been flying over the past month or so, winning six of their last eight league games to move up to seventh in the table.

However, they have a defensive crisis going into the fixture at Home Park as Jackett told the club's media that two important players are out whilst there are doubts over a few more.

"Andy Cannon and Jack Whatmough have a chance of being fit, but Sean Raggett and Tom Naylor have knocks and haven’t trained. It will be a busy weekend for us to assess them but either way, our side will be ready come Monday."

All four players have featured in ten or more league games this season, so they have been crucial to putting the team in this decent position.

As well as that, Pompey are without Ronan Curtis, who is away on international duty with Ireland, whilst this game will also come too soon for Michael Jacobs.

The verdict

This is far from ideal for Portsmouth and it makes the game on Monday a very challenging one.

Obviously, he will be desperate for Cannon and Whatmough to be passed fit and if those two are in the XI then it will make a big difference.

If they don't make it, then others will have to step up. Pompey still have a lot of quality in their ranks and they can certainly get a result at Plymouth.
