Portsmouth are set to head into this weekend’s top of the table clash two men down.

Andre Green and Dion Donohue are both set to miss the highly anticipated clash with Peterborough United on Saturday afternoon.

The duo will miss the trip to London Road, as well as Anton Walkes and Jack Whatmough, who are also sidelined through injury.

Green was forced off on his debut against Shrewsbury Town last weekend after picking up a knee injury.

Donohue, meanwhile, picked up a hamstring injury playing against Reading’s U23 side in midweek and is still yet to feature for Kenny Jackett’s men having missed pre-season through illness.

Walkes and Whatmough remain out with groin and hamstring problems respectively.

Ahead of the clash, Jackett offered early team news to The News, Portsmouth: “Anton Walkes and Jack Whatmough will be absent at the weekend but should be fit for next week.

“Added to that, Donohue has a very tight hamstring which he did against Reading in the week which is frustrating for him - some niggly injuries after his illness that just mounted up - nothing serious, though.

“With the majority of the season ahead, he should be able to make a very good contribution.

"Meanwhile, Andre Green has a knee problem that will keep him out this weekend.”

The Verdict

News of Andre Green’s injury will be a big blow for Kenny Jackett having only been able to play him for 45 minutes before having to make a change.

The Aston Villa loanee is tipped to produce the goods in League One, but that will be put on ice now, as well as the forward's knee, as he recovers from injury.

Other than Green and Dion Donohue, it is pretty much as you were for Pompey who sit behind this weekend’s opponents in second place, by just two points.

Jackett prides himself on continuity and despite two chances, the nucleus of the team who have impressed so far this season are are still fit and ready to go.
