Kenny Burns has stressed the importance of Nottingham Forest conducting their transfer business swiftly in the forthcoming January transfer window.
Sabri Lamouchi has guided Forest to a largely strong start to the season having won nine and lost just five of their opening 21 matches of the campaign, but the Reds are in danger of slipping down the league table with Saturday’s 4-0 loss at home to Sheffield Wednesday making it four games without a win in the Championship.
That run has seen the Reds fall out of the play-off places, and suggests that Lamouchi’s side are in need of some reinforcements in the January transfer window to help them recover their form, and put together another consistent run of form, with a striker a key addition needed in the winter window.
Can you remember the outcome of Nottingham Forest’s last 16 Boxing Day matches?
Speaking to Nottinghamshire Live Burns suggested that it will be important that Forest conduct their business early in the window, and identified the addition of a new striker as a key one the Reds need to get done early in the window, saying: "January can’t come quickly enough for Nottingham Forest.
"We desperately need some reinforcements in the transfer window, to keep us challenging at the top end of the table.
The Verdict
The January transfer window is certainly looking like it is going to be a season defining moment for Nottingham Forest, with Lamouchi’s side capable of going on a run of consistent form to seriously challenge for promotion during the second half of the campaign if they make the right additions.
It is no secret that the Reds are in need of adding another striker in the winter window, with someone needing to come in to take some of the goal scoring pressure off Lewis Grabban, and given Rafa Mir's struggles Forest will be needing to add to their attacking options swiftly in the window.
Lamouchi has in the main done a good job so far this season, but with the Reds on a four game winless run they are in need of some help in January, with more creativity also needed in their squad to help them find a way to break down well organised sides – and if they recruit well then it could help secure them a play-off place come the end of the campaign.
