Former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan has launched an attack on Bolton Wanderers chairman Ken Anderson for his running of the club.

Wanderers were in court on Wednesday to face a winding up petition that could have seen them docked points or even liquidate, but they were granted an extension with a new buyer close to taking over the club.

But Jordan, speaking on Talksport, does not think Anderson should have let the situation get as bad as it has.

“If you own a club you have to go into your pocket and you have to do better than Ken has done.

“I'm perplexed at how a £25m deal isn't getting done. I can only assume Ken wants to be able to achieve the maximum return for Ken at the same time as Bolton.

“I earned that right at Crystal Palace and put £30-40m of my money in. I doubt Ken has.”

Bolton are seemingly destined for relegation to League One this season, currently sat second-bottom of the Championship table with just eight matches left of the season.

They need to make up eight points in that time to have any hope of staying in the second tier, but having scored the least number of goals in the league, it looks very unlikely.

The verdict

It is hard to disagree with Jordan here.

There are question marks still hanging over his time at Palace, but there are few better placed to judge the actions of a Championship owner.

Anderson just needs to get a deal done now and let the fans move on.
