Bolton Wanderers owner and Chairman Ken Anderson has promised the club’s players that they will be paid by him on Monday if a new owner has not been found, reports Marc Iles of the Bolton News.

The relationship between Anderson and the fans has been poisonous for a while with his cost-cutting and perceived incompetence infuriating them.

Bolton are in deep trouble in the Championship this season, currently sat second from bottom and seven points from safety with just 11 matches left to play.

They are also the division’s lowest scorers, finding the back of the net just 22 times in 35 games with League One football looking more a case of when rather than if.

This weekend sees them welcome Millwall to the University of Bolton Stadium, a match that was nearly called off due to safety fears earlier in the week.

The verdict

I will believe it when I see it and I imagine that is a mantra the players are taking as well.

Anderson’s actions have led him to a position where he simply is not trusted by anyone who has anything to do with the club anymore.

The fans want him gone and you can bet that the players and coaches are of the same mindset too.
