The Whites' squad touched down in Perth over the weekend and they are now preparing to face Manchester United in a friendly match, before travelling to Sydney to play Western Sydney.

Roofe has taken to Instagram to share an update on his preparations which involve work in the gym ahead of Marcelo Bielsa's side's matches down under.

The 26-year-old was photographed wearing high socks while lifting weights, and he took the opportunity to make a joke about tough-tackling Leeds defender Berardi.

Roofe said he kept his "shinnies" on for the work-out while Berardi was present, and this is a reference to Berardi's aggressive style of play which saw him sent off in the play-off semi-final against Derby County in May.

The defender was sent off for a second bookable offence after a late tackle on Bradley Johnson in the semi-final clash, which has his seventh dismissal in 130 appearances for the Whites.

The Verdict

This humorous update from Roofe suggests that spirits remain high in the Leeds camp, despite the sour end to last season's promotion push.

The fact Roofe is able to joke about Leeds' play-off semi-final defeat suggests the whole squad have started the season on a clean slate and are now unaffected by their crushing semi-final defeat.

This can only be positive news for Leeds fans, as the club;s recruitment drive this summer means supporters can look forward to the new season as Bielsa's side mount another promotion push.

It will also be encouraging to see Roofe very much at the centre of the squad's jokes, as there has been speculation regarding his Elland Road future this summer.
