Derby County are back in training today as Phillip Cocu’s side look to pick up from where they left off in the Sky Bet Championship.
The Rams’ hopes of a top-six finish looked to be dead and buried in February time, following defeats to the likes of Luton Town and Queens Park Rangers.
But two wins in quick succession over Sheffield Wednesday and Blackburn Rovers before the EFL campaign was brought to a halt has propelled the Rams to within five points of sixth ahead of the final nine games of the season, whenever they may be played.
In a league where anyone can beat anyone, Cocu’s men will be looking to put a run together and break into the top-six in what has been a rollercoaster first season in charge at Pride Park.
One player who will be keen to impress in training is goalkeeper Kelle Roos, who will be hoping to reclaim his place in-between the sticks.
The Dutchman started the campaign as Derby’s first-choice ‘keeper, but a string of a shaky performances led to Ben Hamer moving up the pecking order.
During the lengthy break from EFL action, Roos has been working hard, as per his latest Instagram post, as he looks to work his way back into Cocu’s plans.
It has been quite a mixed season for Roos, and he will surely feel that he should have done better this season.
I don’t think he commands his box with anyone confidence whatsoever, and that can often translate over to the defence and create quite a nervy atmosphere.
Hamer, meanwhile, has been impressive since reclaiming his place in the team and should remain Derby’s number-one choice when the season eventually resumes.
