Bolton Wanderers manager Keith Hills has revealed that Daryl Murphy and Chris O'Grady are both close to returning to action.

The duo, both strikers, were two of several players to join Bolton on transfer deadline day following the completion of the club's takeover, but are yet to make their debuts for Wanderers due to injury problems.

Murphy joined Wanderers on a deal until the end of the season after leaving Nottingham Forest this summer, while O'Grady joined Bolton until the end of the campaign after leaving Oldham Athletic.

However, Bolton manager Hill has revealed that both players are close to returning to action, although it is not clear whether they will be fit in time for the League One clash with Portsmouth at the weekend, as reported by Marc Iles of The Bolton News.

Hill also confirmed that experienced defender Jake Wright - who also joined on deadline day - will miss the game against Pompey with a hamstring strain.

Bolton are yet to win this season and are currently bottom of the League One table on -9 points, after starting the season with a 12-point deduction, but they are unbeaten in their last two matches.

The Verdict

It'll be another tough game for Bolton against Portsmouth at the weekend and it'll be a major boost for the team if Murphy and O'Grady are both fit.

They're both very experienced strikers and will be key to Bolton's chances of avoiding relegation this season.

It's a blow that Wright will miss the game though, he's an experienced defender and had started the last three matches. Hopefully it's not a serious injury and he'll be able to return to action soon.
