Bolton Wanderers manager Keith Hill says that midfielder Dennis Politic has the potential to be a "valuable asset" to the club for years to come.

The 19-year-old was one of a number of young players to be handed their chance in the club's first-team at the start of the season, and has since gone on to establish himself as a regular feature for Wanderers' senior squad.

In total, Politic has made 24 appearances and scored five goals in all competitions for the club this season, and recently a new contract that is set to keep him at the University of Bolton Stadium until the end of the 2021/22 season.

That is something Hill believes will out well for the midfielder, with the Trotters boss telling The Bolton News: “He’s settled, got his contract sorted, and as a football player you can’t always be looking about where you are going to go next.

“You have to take care of the performances, enjoy learning, don’t just hedge bets. If you do that in football you end up going nowhere."

Indeed, it seems Hill feels both player and club are already reaping the benefits of Politic's recent progression, as he continued: “Dennis is playing for us now, unconditionally, and it’s brilliant to see because his spontaneous skill is wonderful but he’s also a team player who’s working hard.

“He’ll be a great servant and a valuable asset for the club now.”

The Verdict

Politic's situation at Bolton certainly looks to be a big boost for the club.

With relegation to League Two looking increasingly likely, securing the Romainian to a new contract means they will be in a strong position to negotiate any offers that may come in for him in the summer.

As a result, they will either be able to retain the services of a hugely promising player as they aim for promotion next season, or receive a decent fee for the teenager, something which ought to help their financial situation, which is you imagine will take a hit if relegation is confirmed.

That Politic is even being talked about in such a way is considerably impressive given he only made his debut for the club at the start of this season, which feels like a significant complement to the way he has acquitted himself since then.
