Bolton Wanderers manager Keith Hill says he is confident the club will secure more new signings between now and the end of the January transfer window.

The League One strugglers have already added five new recruits to their squad this month, with striker Muhammadu Faal and midfielder George Thomason joining the club permanently following spells in non-league football, while midfielder Ethan Hamilton, centre back Toto Nsiala and left-back Brandon Fleming have joined on loan from Manchester United, Ipswich Town and Hull City respectively.

It seems however, as though Hill is keen to add even more players to his squad, and when speaking about the possibility of doing that, the 50-year-old told the Bolton News: “Hopefully, leading into the next game, we’ll be getting more business done. We have to recruit – we want the fans to be proud.

"We don’t want it to become It’s a Knockout for the next 20 games. And it wouldn’t be fair on the supporters or the team.

It is thought that Bolton are keen to add at least two more players to their squad this month, and discussing the work that is going into completing such deals, Hill continued: “Trust me, there’s a lot of work being done to make sure I get a better team out there, so the supporters have got something to really grasp going into the end of the season and next season as well."

“People are trying everything they possibly can but we have to be patient and we have to get the right players in this window. If not, we run with what we’ve got.

“I accept anything as long as there’s honesty and the people I am working for are honest with me.”

Bolton are next in action on Tuesday 28th January, when they host Bristol Rovers - the first team they beat this season, in a 2-0 away win back in October - at the University of Bolton Stadium.

The Verdict

This does look to be encouraging from a Bolton perspective.

Having been forced to operate with something of a makeshift side this season given their recent troubles, so you can understand why they are keen to add to their squad sooner rather than later this month.

Getting those faces into the side quickly will help them to familiarise themselves with their new club quicker, giving them the best possible chance of making a useful contribution alongside their new teammates, while also potentially offering some extra experience to their lineup.

Indeed, the fact that those behind the scenes at the club also appear willing to bring in yet more new signings appears promising, since it suggests Hill will get the backing he needs to ensure he gets the best chance possible to keep the club in League One this season.
