Bolton Wanderers manager Keith Hill has admitted that he will have to change his plans regarding the selection and fitness of new signing, Daryl Murphy.

The former Nottingham Forest and Ipswich striker joined the Trotters on a deal until the end of the season after seeing his contract with Forest come to an end and made his debut this weekend as the Lancashire outfit lost 1-0 to Portsmouth.

Murphy played the full 90 minutes as Bolton were once again defeated, and now Hill admits he might have to re-assess how he uses the big striker.

“I hadn’t planned on playing Daryl Murphy 90 minutes – I’d planned on 55-60 and then get him ready for Blackpool but I’m probably going to have to put him in ice now until Thursday,” Hill told The Bolton News.

Hill went on to simply say that this is 'the situation the club is in' when it came to having to play players, making a nod to their lack of squad depth and need for new players in the ranks.

Murphy will be hoping to make a big push for a regular starting berth at Bolton as he looks to help the club out of the relegation places over the course of the season following a disastrous last 18 months which has seen the club nearly go bust and be given a points deduction down in League One.
