EFL pundit, Keith Andrews, has stated that there is no hangover from last season's play-off semi-final as Leeds prepare to face Derby County this weekend.

The Whites prepare to take on the opposition that ended their campaign last season, with the match sure to carry some extra edge on Saturday.

Leeds were defeated 4-2 at Elland Road in May, as the Rams celebrated a trip to Wembley. However, neither side could eventually find promotion, and will both do battle once more after very different starts to the season.

Derby have won just once in seven games since Phillip Cocu took over at the club, whilst Leeds sit top of the Championship after an excellent start to the season.

Andrews has insisted that the way that Marcelo Bielsa's side have reacted, there is clearly no play-off hangover whatsoever.

Speaking to the EFL Podcast, Andrews said: "The season after a play-off defeat, you want to get going as soon as possible. In the first few games I was looking at Leeds, I was looking at there home form and I have to say that they have reacted really well.

"You look at the tweaks they've made to the playing staff, decent players coming in and it's a different sort of Derby this time around, I think they'd be a little bit more on it if Frank Lampard was still in charge.

"Overall, the way Leeds have reacted, there definitely won't be any hangover from the second-leg of the play-offs."

Is this the WORST Leeds United XI from the last 15 years? We'll let YOU decide....

The Verdict

I think Andrews is spot on, if anything they look better and improved in this new campaign. They have all the makings to suggest that they have a great opportunity of playing Premier League football next season.

They seem to be the team that everyone wants to beat, and in fairness, Bielsa has recovered them well after last seasons devastating loss in the play-off semi-finals.

It'll be interesting to see how they react to facing Derby once more at Elland Road, and they'll be hoping that the players put on a better display than in May.
