As reported earlier today by Football League World, goalkeeper Keiren Westwood has signed for SkyBet Championship outfit Sheffield Wednesday.
The Yorkshire giants have given the Republic of Ireland international a two-year contract at Hillsborough following his release by Premier League side Sunderland at the end of last season.
Westwood, 29, brings a wealth of experience with him having played at all four levels of the professional game in England during spells with Carlisle United, Coventry City and Sunderland.
He has racked up more than 300 appearances in his career thus far and was named in the League One Team of the Year in 2007/08 before repeating the feat in the Championship a season later.
This signing throws the future of Chris Kirkland into doubt as the former Liverpool goalkeeper is yet to commit to a new deal with the club despite being offered a contract.
Westwood, though, will be a more than adequate replacement if Kirkland decides that his future lies away from South Yorkshire.
